Hoping to regain custody, Murphy enters into a risky deal with the ruthless camp overseer, Clancy (Russell Crowe): he is promised early release in exchange for joining a group of smugglers transporting gold through the unforgiving wilderness. Yet, beyond the dangers lurking in the rugged terrain, the mission is further sabotaged by distrust and betrayal from within the group\u2019s own ranks. This historical thriller, set during the Great Depression of the 1930s, is led by two Hollywood heavyweights: Ethan Hawke and Russell Crowe. Although the story is set in the wilderness of Oregon, it was filmed entirely in Bavaria and received funding from FFF Bayern. Following its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival, The Weight had its European premiere at the 76th Berlin International Film Festival as part of the Berlinale Special section.<\/div><div
