Matt and Jay (Matt Johnson, Jay McCarrol) are unemployed, have been friends for years, and serve as fictionalized alter egos of their own creators. Through their band, they aim to perform at The Rivoli in Toronto—a goal for which they devise an unconventional plan centered on a motorhome inspired by a DeLorean. When the scheme goes awry, the pair unexpectedly ends up in a different era. Instead of being on stage, they find themselves in 2008, tasked with navigating a past that feels both familiar and alien. With no clear way out, Matt and Jay must figure out how to return to their own present.
